Renee McPhatter, Esq.
As the Associate Vice President for Government and Community Relations, Renee manages the strategic direction of the federal, state and local governmental activities of the university, as well as its community and business relations. Before taking this position in August 2011, Renee served as general counsel for the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services. She previously served as deputy director of policy and legislative affairs for former D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty and director of the D.C. Smoke Free Campaign for the American Cancer Society. Earlier in her career, Renee worked for D.C. Councilmember Kathy Patterson and former U.S. Rep. Sam Coppersmith (D-Ariz.). Renee earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her law degree from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. She resides in the District with her son.
Kevin Michael Days
As the Executive Director for Government and Community Relations, Kevin serves as a liaison between GW and local residents, coordinating GW’s neighborhood outreach and engagement efforts. He also manages the university's government relations in Virginia. Kevin has been a nonprofit professional for over 20 years and has held a variety of positions during his career. He worked with Serve DC to help nonprofits increase their capacity and served as the Director of Finance and Operations for the Sustainable Futures Public Charter School. He also served as the Advisor for Higher Education at the Corporation for National and Community Service. Prior to moving to DC, Kevin was the first Executive Director of the New York Campus Compact. Kevin graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York, Plattsburgh, and earned a Masters in African-American History from Cornell University. Kevin lives in Burke, VA with his wife, 3 beautiful children, and 2 dogs.
Abby Paulson
As the Director of Federal Relations, Abby serves as the liaison between GW and elected and appointed federal officials, conducts research into policy issues, and identifies strategies for pursuing new partnerships. Before joining GW, Abby worked with the American Political Science Association and a coalition of groups focused on open government. Abby earned her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and her Masters’ from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She lives in Maryland with her husband.
Gabrielle Sosa
As the Director of Government Relations and Stakeholder Engagement, Gabrielle liaises between the GW community and local District government, agencies, businesses, and civic associations. She also oversees the OGCR's external stakeholder engagement portfolio, managing the marketing and communications of the office. Before coming to GW, Gabrielle was a Legislative Aide for Novartis's Federal Affairs Department and a Digital Marketing Manager for Shark Branding Solutions. Gabrielle received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University in 2018 and a Masters' of Public Administration, magna cum laude, from George Washington University. She lives in the District with her partner and their two cats.
